MELKSHAM Town Crier Peter Dauncey and his wife, Joan, have returned victorious from the Ancient and Honourable Guild of Town Criers National Championships in Windsor, winning the title and cup as Best Dressed Crier & Escort.
The win continues an impressive winning streak for the couple, who in the last 12 months have won eight trophies in the ‘best dressed’ category. Peter and Joan are now looking forward to hosting next year’s Melksham Town Crier competition, which will be held on 28th September 2019, as part of the celebrations to mark the 800th anniversary of Melksham’s Market Charter.
