THE Early Years’ classes at Forest and Sandridge have been learning about and celebrating Diwali – a five-day Festival of Lights, celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world.
Diwali, which for some also coincides with harvest and new year celebrations, is a festival of new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness.
The children at Forest and Sandridge dressed up, learnt dance routines, painted Henna hands, chalked beautiful Rangoli patterns, created their own Diva lamps and had a taste of India!
Early Years lead Ginny Roberts said, “Refa Indian Restaurant kindly donated a large box of yummy poppadoms for us to try! Everyone had a wonderful time celebrating, and we would like to say a huge thank you to Refa for making our party go off with a bang!”
