Sat 22nd Oct • South League Div One South Melksham Town FC 3 – 0 Willand Rovers
Town hosted third placed Willand Rovers on Saturday 22nd October looking to bounce back after two disappointing league results.
Willand who came to the Oakfield Stadium having won five on the trot started the game slightly better but it was the Town who took the lead after great work by Albie Hopkins whose cross was headed by top goal scorer Sam Hendy.
Town then went on and controlled the rest of the half and deservedly went 2 nil up on the stroke of half time thanks to a deflected effort from Joe Romanski.
In the second half Melksham continued to dominate and were awarded a penalty for an offence on Noah Coppin and it was Hendy who converted the penalty which resulted in a convincing and thoroughly deserved victory. This victory enabled the Town to move up to seventh place in the table and only two points off third place.
Town travel to Bishops Cleeve on Tuesday 25th October and then to Lymington on the 29th October.
Town’s next home fixture is against local rivals Bradford Town on Tuesday 1st November in the Wilts Professional Shield where it is an All Play gate (Season tickets do not apply for a cup fixture).
