A Melksham care home celebrated the sounds of the 50s, 60s and 70s with a special indoor music festival recently, revisiting the golden era of Woodstock and Glastonbury despite the wet weather outside.
Blenheim House, part of the Berkley Care Group, transformed its bistro into a festival-inspired space, complete with nostalgic music, food and drink. Residents, families and team members enjoyed a lively afternoon filled with the greatest hits of The Beatles, Barry Manilow and other legendary performers from the decades that shaped modern music.
In true festival spirit, a selection of wines, beers and soft drinks were served alongside classic burgers, while families joined in the fun dressed in flowing bohemian outfits with handmade flower garlands. The themed celebration sparked memories and conversation, with residents sharing stories of concerts, festivals, and the soundtrack of their youth.
The festival also supported Blenheim House’s chosen charity of the year, Carer Support Wiltshire, which provides unpaid carers with access to respite, training, information and practical support.

Manager at Blenheim House
Events Manager at Blenheim House, Chris Preston, said, “Music festivals are such a big part of cultural life, and we wanted to bring that atmosphere to Blenheim for our residents and families to enjoy. From the clothes to the music to the food, it was all about creating a nostalgic, feel-good day.
“Even though the rain meant we had to move indoors, it didn’t dampen the spirit one bit, the energy in the room was fantastic.”
Blenheim House continues to host a wide range of community-focused events, from coffee mornings to seasonal celebrations, with local families and neighbours always welcome. Its summer programme showcases the home’s gardens, complete with flower beds, wildlife habitats and plenty of seating for visitors to enjoy.
