YOUNG musician, Jordan Whatley, 18, from Melksham has had a busy few months since term finished for his first year at college.
Every weekend since the start of June has been taken up playing folk festivals, including the Village Pump, and local gigs such as at The Pilot, where he honed his skill as a semiprofessional musician, and at Melksham’s Party In The Park.
Jordan writes his own material but often mixes this with an unusual choice of covers when he performs. Pink Floyd, The Cure and Nine Inch Nails all find their place amongst the more expected Munford & Sons or Cherry Ghost. He has recently added harmonica to the guitar, ukulele, banjo and bass drum he already plays. Jordan joked, “Cymbals on my arms and string tied to my feet is the next step.”
Jordan’s debut originals album ‘The Shadow Planet’ was released on 21st July and is available from all ‘Raves From The Graves’ record stores in Warminster, Bath and Frome, at ‘Blood On The Tracks’ vinyl store in Swindon and can be downloaded from iTunes, Amazon and Spotify in the next few weeks. Currently Jordan is recording an EP of three brand new songs at Melksham’s Nine Volt Leap studio, which he will be performing at the next Music Night Open Mic slot at The Pilot on Wednesday 21st August.
