Melksham churches came together for this year’s World Day of Prayer service, held at St. Michael and All Angels’ Church.
The ecumenical, women-led service was put together by Christian women from Nigeria.
The theme this year was “I will give you rest, come.”
The service shared the stories of four Nigerian women, inviting people to work towards a world without injustice, insecurity, marg-inalisation, religious persecution, poverty and despair.
The Melksham service on 6th March was well attended and brought together congregations from St. Michael’s and St. Barnabas (Anglican), St. Anthony’s (Roman Catholic), the United Church, Queensway, and the Good News Church. Refreshments and fellowship were enjoyed by many after the service.
The annual service is always held on the first Friday in March. Next year it will take place at St. Anthony of Padua (Roman Catholic) Church, West End, Melksham.
