Five girls from the Wiltshire School of Gymnastics (WSG), based at Bowerhill, took part in a national team competition recently.
The gymnasts, Robyn Ellison, Nicole Parsons, Jasmine Frost, Hannah Griffin and Jessica Daykin, represented WSG at the 2015 National Bill Slater Junior Team Championships held in Stoke-on-Trent on September 19th and 20th.
“Having not competed in this event for a number of years, the girls received the tough unseeded draw of Round 1 on the Saturday starting at 8.30am,” said Sue Ellison from the club. “Following a nervous warm-up, the undeterred girls pulled together as a team to hit 17/19 routines!
“A long wait followed to see how the team would finally place as the competition continued via six further rounds into late Sunday afternoon. They finished in an extremely impressive national ranking of 12th from 30 teams, defeating clubs that we had not expected. This result means that WSG will be seeded in 2016 – Well Done! to both the gymnasts and their coach, Rachel Levick-Kiely.”
