THIS month local osteopath Angela Stevenson is celebrating 40 years in practice.
Angela treats a wide range of patients at her premises, in Kingsbury Square, Melksham, specialising in the treatment and management of chronic pain conditions.
“I love my work and still get great job satisfaction helping people out of pain and disability,” she said.
“Over my 40 years in practice I have treated people with all sorts of conditions ranging from low back pain to fibromyalgia.
“My patients mainly live in Melksham and the surrounding area but I also have patients travelling from Wales and Somerset.
“Using a combination of Osteopathy, Frequency Specific Microcurrent and Craniosacral Therapy I now specialise in supporting people with chronic pain and complex long term conditions that have been unresponsive to other treatments.
“My Melksham office is in Kingsbury House, just off Kingsbury Square which suits patients well as it has parking outside and has level access.”
Angela qualified in 1983 from the then British School of Osteopathy in London (now University College of Osteopathy) and for the past 13 years, has run her own practice in Melksham, Resonant Body Health.
“Many thanks to all my lovely local patients!” she said. “I hope to continue on treating the people of Melksham and beyond for a good many years yet.
“Every Osteopath has their own ‘flavour’ and mine is gentle but effective treatment combinations that are selected for the patients’ needs. I like to take time to explain things to patients so that they understand their problems and how to get better. I use traditional osteopathic techniques to reduce muscle spasm and mobilise joints gently.
“I also offer Frequency Specific Microcurrent which uses extremely small electrical currents of a specific frequency to resonate with the body’s tissues. This has the effect of reducing inflammation naturally and is good for treating nerve pain and scar tissue. The current is so small that you can’t feel it and there are no side effects.”
After 40 years as an osteopath, Angela recommends choosing Osteopathy for a career.
“It’s an excellent, rewarding career that makes a real difference to people’s lives,” she said. “And there are plenty of opportunities to work abroad if that’s something you would like to do. I spent 17 years in the Middle East before coming back to the UK and settling in Melksham. Recently I have also enjoyed teaching students in the University London clinic.”
