THE 12th annual Wiltshire 10 Road Race took place on Sunday 11th February, with 400 runners raising £1,000 for young person’s charity Youth Action Wiltshire.
On a re-planned course to avoid the flooded sections of the river Avon, the field headed out of King George V Park (KGV) and into Forest Lane before heading out and around Lacock and finishing back in the town park.
“Leading home the field in a time of 53 minutes and 48 seconds was Michael Towler of Team Bath AC with the Bristol & West AC duo of Tom Newman and Nick Roberts trying in vain to close him down,” says Darren, one of the race organisers.
“In the women’s race, regular participant Lucy Richens of Westbury Harriers claimed her first victory at the race, recording a time of 65 minutes and 20 seconds with Rachel Stowell of Bitton Road Runners and Emma Hines of Swindon Harriers close behind.”
Age group winners were: 1st MV40 – Bill Leggate of Cirencester AC; 1st MV50 – Stephen Rose of Team Bath AC; 1st MV60 – Paul Reddaway of Corsham Running Club; 1st FV40 – Lyndsey Carpenter of Chippenham Tri Club; 1st FV50 – Lisa Jeffery of Chepstow Harriers; 1st FV60 – Diane Hier of Avon Valley Runners.
