Bowerhill Primary School has appointed Rachel Skates as the new principal. She is currently principal at Mountford Manor Primary School, where she has been in the role for five successful years.
The school reports, “Replacing previous principal Andrew Matthews, who is retiring from teaching after 19 years at Bowerhill, Miss Skates will lead the continued progress made at the school over Mr Matthews’ tenure. Prior to joining Mountford Manor, Rachel had been key stage 2 lead and deputy head at Drove Primary School, and also spent time at Swindon Teaching School, where her focus was initial teacher training (ITT).”
Upon being appointed principal, Rachel Skates said, ”I am delighted to be joining such a wonderful school and I can’t wait to start working with the fantastic children, families, and staff. Bowerhill is already a great school, but I am determined to make further improvements and ensure we move from strength to strength, together, as a community.”
Bowerhill Primary School joined The White Horse Federation multi-academy trust in 2018. The trust is responsible for 32 schools across Swindon, Wiltshire, Gloucester, Oxfordshire, and Berkshire.
Simon Cowley, The White Horse Federation’s regional director for Wiltshire said, “I am delighted to introduce Rachel as the new principal of Bowerhill Primary School. During her time at Mountford Manor, another of the federation’s schools, Rachel showed exceptional leadership skills and continued to improve outcomes for everyone at the school throughout her tenure. I am looking forward to working with Rachel and supporting her and the senior leadership team at Bowerhill Primary School as we build upon the school’s progress made under Andrew Matthews.”
The school continued, “Miss Skates’ appointment at Bowerhill Primary School will begin in January. Once she is in post, Miss Skates will communicate her vision and strategy for improvement at the academy in a statement addressed to staff, parents, and the local press.”
