CURIOUS locals flocked to the Assembly Hall last week to find out if they were in possession of valuable hidden treasures.
At the free event, in aid of Wiltshire Air Ambulance, attendees had the opportunity to have their items valued by experts, including BBC’s Flog It presenter and air ambulance ambassador, Paul Martin.
Whitley couple, Bob and Cecily Brownrigg, brought along memorabilia from the 1966 World Cup final, which saw England lift the trophy after beating West Germany 4-2. Antiques expert Paul Martin told them that programmes for the final could reach between £20 to £40 at auction.
Bob said, “It is roughly what I expected – but it was great to meet Paul and have him confirm it. It’s been a good morning, and the event has been very well organised.”
Partnerships coordinator for Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Valerie Whistler, told Melksham News, “It was a busy day with more than 100 people from Melksham and the surrounding area taking part in the event. It was thoroughly enjoyable!
“There were some lovely items brought along that were valued by Paul Martin, Alan Aldridge and Andrew Aldridge from Henry Aldridge & Son Ltd, and jewellery expert Leona Fish. All our experts worked hard all day.
“All the items that were valued have the option of being sold at the Fine Art Antiques and Collectables Sale auctions on Saturday 14th March – with 100% of the seller’s commission from every sale being donated to Wiltshire Air Ambulance.”
