A Melksham mum is asking the community to join her in solidarity of Autism Awareness on Saturday 15th April, at a picnic in the King George V Park.
Kylie-Clair Hedges who is a parent of three children with autism, is encouraging people to head to the KGV park to join her and others to chat about experiences of autism, what it is like being parents of children with autism, and to exchange tips and stories.
Kylie-Clair said, “This is an opportunity to talk to others that are also experiencing the same thing and to share ideas. Mainly, it’s for people to feel like they are not on their own.”
The afternoon is for anyone who is autistic and their family and friends. Kylie-Clair said, “People can just turn up informally. I will be there with my three children and I hope to see others come along too.”
The picnic will take place at 12pm to 4pm at the King George V Park. For more information search Autism Awareness Picnic in the Park on Facebook.
Autism Awareness Day was marked on Saturday 2nd April. However, some charities, like Autism Acceptance, dedicate the month to raising the profile of the initiative.
