AFTER a successful year helping Melksham parents to communicate with their newborns and toddlers, baby sign language classes are returning for the new term.
Led by Melksham local Ceri Roberts, Sing and Sign classes teach sign language to children aged between 5 and 30-months, using songs that help them learn basic signs that aid them in expressing themselves.
Ceri says, “Altogether in just three terms, 85 places have been filled and parents keep coming back for another term, which is wonderful. This coming term there are only 10 places remaining, 9 of which in our first 0-5mths Babes class.
“‘Babes’ Sing and Sign classes are for parents with babies 0-5mths. It is a 10-week course at the very start of the award-winning programme.
“Babes classes are relaxed, intimate and gentle, focusing on developing early interaction and communication with the smallest of babies through music. Super one-on-one time with your baby. We use music, songs, rhymes, our senses and also introduce first signs as we move through a different theme of communication each week.
“Classes have been developed with the help of speech and language therapists and recognised by experts.
“Our 6-14mths and 14-30mths classes are appropriate to their age and interactive. We learn signs in a fun music class to develop communication before and alongside speech.
Classes take place at Queensway Hall on Thursdays, starting 20th September. Contact Ceri for more information: ceriroberts@singandsign .co.uk or find the group on Facebook, search with ‘Sing and Sign Chippenham and Marlborough’.
