Saturday 10th August, Wiltshire County Cricket League Division One Malmesbury beat BMCC by 76 runs
SHORT of two regular bowlers BMCC still decided to bowl on winning the toss and were soon rewarded when Brown took a wicket with his 2nd Ball.
Malmesbury gradually began to rebuild as Pearce-Smith and Collison put on 37 for the 2nd wicket before Collison departed for 37. BMCC got another quick wicket to leave the hosts on 46 for 3 off 15 overs and the game evenly poised.
Malmesbury again had to rebuild, but with Pearce-Smith taking the anchor role it was left to G. Royal to take the attack to the bowlers. Their 4th wicket partnership had reached 129 when Pearce-Smith went for a patient 56. Royal continued to attack until he was finally out for 118 as Malmesbury’s innings closed on a formidable 249 for 6.
BMCC were always struggling to match the required run rate and were not helped by several batsmen getting starts and then getting themselves out, with four players getting over 20 but unable to capitalise on the excellent batting track. BMCC were finally all out for 173 with J. Pickering taking 7 for 60 off 12.
