Saturday 20th July 2013 – Wiltshire League Division One – Beanacre & Melksham CC beat Spye Park CC by 78 runs
BATTING first BMCC openers Mark Wiltshire (38) and Darren Perrin (14) were soon finding the boundary on a regular basis as the lightening fast outfield gave full value for shots.
Spye kept battling and Dave Beal removed both openers with the score in the 50’s, but this only meant BMCC’s two form batsmen came to the crease. Both Ben Brown (30) and Matt Hunt continued to find the boundary as they put on 52 for the 3rd wicket in 12 overs.
Matt Hunt was then joined by Spye old boy Steve Rendell and the runs continued to flow as they put on 110 for the 4th wicket. Rendell departed in the 44th over for 60 runs, but Hunt remained unbeaten on 66 as the home side closed on 235 for 4.
Spye’s innings got off to a slow start as the BMCC quick bowlers found pace and bounce in the wicket.
Wickets started to fall at regular intervals as all the home bowlers started to turn the screw. Only Dave Beal (21) and Mike Duboulay (32) to the attack to the bowlers as Spye were finally bowled out for 157 in the 43rd over.
There were 3 wickets a piece for Rich Hemmings, Ben Brown and Dean Wallington
