MELKSHAM Food and River Festival met with major local sponsors last week to kickstart the run-up to this year’s festival, which will be held on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd September.
Leekes of Melksham has been announced as the main sponsor for the festival, and volunteers met at the department store on Tuesday with other sponsors; printing company, Superior, and dairy exporters, Coombe Castle, both of which are based in Melksham.
Chair of the festival, Adrienne Westbrook said, “We are proud to launch this year’s Melksham Food and River Festival in association with Leekes.
“We are grateful to Superior for printing our leaflets this year and for Coombe Castle for sponsorship as well.
“The committee has worked really hard to add new attractions to this year’s festival, and we are really grateful to our sponsors for enabling us to provide a weekend of fun and adventure with free entry to all.
“This year we will have two full days of activities, including cooking demonstrations in our brand new Leekes marquee, the Cooper Avon zip wire challenge across the river, a climbing wall and Fox Hangers raft race.
“There will also be music from The Decibelles and, back by popular demand, the chilli eating competition on Sunday!”
