FATHER and daughter, Martin and Tash Farley, are embarking on a 120-mile cycling challenge in August to raise money for Melksham twirling team, Enigma.
The pair from Melksham will cycle to Bournemouth and back over two days and hope to raise around £750 for carnival costumes for the Enigma team.
Tash, who is the photographer for Enigma and sits on the committee said, “My dad is a keen cyclist and he cycled the London to Brighton route with my big brother about 15 years ago, but hasn’t cycled this distance in about five years.
“Also my brother died two years ago at the age of 25 in a motorcycle accident and I wanted to do something special with my dad; I thought this would be a perfect tribute to my brother as well as an opportunity to raise funds for Enigma.
“Dad chose Bournemouth as it’s 60 miles away (the same distance as the official London to Brighton route) and I then suggested to ride back the next day!
“I am a little nervous as it’s the furthest I will have ever ridden as I’ve only been road cycling for two months. At the same time, I am super excited because of the challenge.
“The team are all behind me 100% and they know how much they all mean to me. We’re like one big family and I’m super proud of every one of the team and the volunteers that help. They push themselves to achieve their best, not only in the sport, but also to become caring, friendly, supportive individuals.
“I want to show them how awesome they all are by giving something back. They really deserve a brilliant carnival season as a reward for all the hard work they put in.”
