The next concert in the popular Live at Shaw series will take place on Wednesday 23rd October at 7.30pm when Christ Church Shaw welcomes the Bishop of Ramsbury, Andrew Rumsey.
Andrew is a talented composer and musician and also an author – a man of poetry and prose. He has been writing and performing songs for more than 35 years and plays in the band Effras. His most recent folk album, Evensongs, won wide praise from folk music critics, with Clash magazine praising its “evocative songs” that had “a heart melting sense of space at its core.” The album even led to an invitation to appear as a guest on Radio 2’s The Folk Show.
Alongside his music, Andrew is widely respected across Wiltshire in his role as Bishop of Ramsbury. His creative work draws deeply on themes of nature, the seasons and the landscape, reflecting on how these can help us make sense of the world and our place within it. He has also published several books, including Strangely Warmed, Homing In, and most recently English Grounds (2021), a lyrical journey exploring faith, place and identity.
“This is likely to be a very special evening – don’t miss it,” said one of the organisers, Dianne Briggs.
There will also be an opportunity to purchase some of Bishop Andrew’s works on the night.
Tickets are £10 per person and can be reserved by emailing aswparish@gmail.com or from Spindles in Whitley.
