With several players stuck in traffic, Nalgo had no option but to bat on winning the toss.
They were soon regretting this decision as Ben Brown’s pace and Andy Footner’s swing soon had them 11 for 2 off 10 overs.
The batsmen then decided to throw caution to the wind as they went on the attack. Faraz (49) and Khan (21) put on 40 for the 3rd wicket before Khan was run out by Alex Tanner. Rafiq joined Faraz and they added 51 for the 4th wicket, leaving the visitors on 101 for 4 off 29 overs.
Two quick wickets then fell which left the home side sensing a quick conclusion to the innings, but 8th man in Quadri had other ideas, and along with Rafiq (62) they added 79 for the 7th wicket.
Quadri finished on 50* as Nalgo closed on 200 for 8 off 45 overs.
With a short shower at the end of tea giving the wicket a bit of spice the BMCC openers were soon playing shots and raced to 51 before the 1st wicket fell.
Ben Brown then joined Steve Rendell and they added 32 before Brown was caught for an attacking 24 with the score on 80. This soon became 88 for 3 and the game was finally poised, but with Rendell still at the crease the home side were still confident. Chris Downham joined Rendell and the two experienced players started to push the one’s and two’s as they had the scoreboard steadily ticking over. When Downham (14) departed 79 runs were still required for victory.
Alex Tanner marched to the crease and decided to attack and was soon sending the ball to the boundary and with the calming influence at the other end the pair took the home side to their target in the 42nd over with Rendell finishing on 79*and Tanner 37*.
This was an impressive victory for a side that contained six players who had progressed through the Club’s Youth set up over the past 10 years.
