A closely contested game concluded in a tense finish at the league leaders Bradford ground.
With high winds at their backs and on a saturated pitch Melksham made the most of the wind advantage kicking for territory and putting the early pressure on Bradford. Attacking in their 22 Simon Foster floated a missed pass to Dave Dyke out on the wing who ran in the first unconverted try against the stretched Bradford defence.
The game settled into a series of attacks from both teams, Bradford missing a penalty kick to posts into the wind.
The visitors maintained their 1st half advantage kicking to the corners resulting in a drive towards the Bradford line. From the back of the ensuing ruck, scrum half Callum Hurn saw the defence had started to rush out wide and drove in to score another try for the visitors. The half time score 0-10 to Melksham.
At the start of the second half the wind advantage was now with the hosts and Bradford took the opportunity and scored a converted try to start their comeback.
A period of great pressure followed as Bradford pounded the visitors defence time and time again only to be thwarted by the robust Melksham defence, both teams tiring in the very heavy conditions. Under the onslaught Melksham eventually conceded a penalty to level it all at 10-10.
As the clock was winding down Melksham had driven into Bradford territory and a quick snap ball from the scrum half Hurn to Simon Foster for a drop kick at goal, winning the game with seconds to play. Final score 10-13.
