JUNE was a busy month for Spencer Melksham Bowls Club.
The club reports, “The warm weather has made for excellent bowling conditions as league, friendly and club competitions continue. The club welcomed four teams from Hanham and Kingswood on 11th June. Although the visitors left as victors, they all agreed that the rinks and hospitality were of the highest quality.
“Once a month, the Friday roll up is replaced with a friendly competition, primarily aimed at giving members who do not regularly play in league matches or who are new to the game, the chance to experience competition over 8 ends. Friday 17th June was fine and warm and produced two very close matches.
“The Ladies’ teams are sitting mid-table in their leagues, with the Bowls Wiltshire League team enjoying a clean sweep claiming all 6 points in their recent match against Box .
“All the men’s teams are going well in their leagues. Many members are involved in national competitions, with Josh Mullett narrowly missing out on a place in the semi-finals of the Unbadged Singles and the U25 Singles.
“The Wiltshire Youth Academy was welcomed to the club on 18th June. Six games of triples were played and the enthusiasm and potential skill of these young players was plain to see.”
