Melksham travelled to Calne for the Bath & District combination plate game.
The first points on the board were to come from Melksham with a well work ball out through the backs to David Dyke going in out wide.
A strongly contested game as both sides sought the next score with some hard work at the breakdown releasing Nick Suter to charge over, Simon Foster adding the conversion. On the close of the half, good line out ball went through the hands to Chris Mulgrew for his try ending the half 0-17.
The second half saw Calne dig deep and battle for parity but it was the visitors’ day getting the drive on with a pushover try for Aaron Brailey, Foster adding the extras.
Calne’s efforts were to be rewarded after driving into the Melksham half, a loose ball snatched up for their try and conversion. The game ending 7-24 to Melksham. Dave Dyke being awarded man of the match.
