Wiltshire Council would like to reassure the Melksham community that the town’s Christmas lights will not be affected next year by work to provide the new community campus.
The council has scheduled the works to ensure that the Christmas lights and fair, an annual focal point for the town, will go ahead as planned.
Jonathon Seed, Wiltshire Council cabinet member for campuses said, “The Melksham community is, rightly so, extremely proud of the town’s spectacular Christmas lights. As a member of the Melksham Area Board and a local councillor I know just how important they are to the area. They bring the local community together and are hugely popular and a huge boost for the town’s economy.
“I’d like to reassure everyone that they will be going ahead next year and that the development of the new multi-million campus will not affect this well established community event.”
Wiltshire Council is investing nearly £80million in local communities to provide improved facilities and services across the county.

Wiltshire Council says their aim is to deliver more for local communities by making maximum and efficient use of council buildings – both new and old.
“Communities will enjoy modern, state-of-the-art facilities for years to come as over half of the council’s exciting campus programme is delivered by 2017.”
Melksham campus, will provide a six-lane pool, bowling greens, fitness/dance suite and gym, cricket pitch, tennis courts, a library and hall and is expected to be ready for use in early 2017.
