MELKSHAM Tourist Information Centre has started its annual ‘Cards for Good Causes’ Christmas card sale to raise money for charity.
The information centre on Church Street has filled its shelves with a huge number of Christmas cards, stamps, and wrapping paper ready for the festive season.
Mayor of Melksham Terri Welch said, “The cards do sell well here, and the money raised goes to 32 different charities, both national and local.
“We’ve sold the charity cards for many years, and were the first tourist information centre in the area to do this; a lot of them have followed suit since.
“I would encourage people to buy from us because 100% of the profits from the cards goes to charity. If you buy charity cards from a commercial outlet, it might be only a small percentage that is actually donated.”
Chairman of the tourist information centre, Pauline Baker said, “Cards for Good Causes Christmas stock is now on sale, together with the Christmas stamps, and we invite all our customers, both regular and new to come along and view the display.
“There is the usual array of wrapping paper, gift cards, Advent calendars, and this year we are delighted to offer customers our new fridge magnets showing photographs of the Melksham area.
“These make useful last minute stocking fillers and may also help solve the problem of Aunty Marge who announces her impending arrival but you have nothing to give her! Not much, but at least it shows you care!”
Melksham Tourist Information Centre is open six days a week from 9.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday, and from 10am to 1pm on Saturday.
