Residents, families and the local community were treated to an afternoon inspired by ‘The Greatest Showman’ at luxury all-inclusive care home, Blenheim House.
Blenheim House, part of the Berkley Care Group, hosted its Circus Extravaganza on Saturday 12th July, welcoming more than 150 guests for a summer celebration filled with dazzling acts and entertainment. The event was inspired by the popular musical film, ‘The Greatest Showman’, a current favourite of one of the home’s residents.
Events manager Chris Preston said, “The atmosphere was electric as guests enjoyed acrobatics, stilt-walking, fire-breathing performances and more.
“Families with young children were especially delighted by the balloon artist and bubble show, with many little ones chasing bubbles through the garden and leaving with hats, toys and swords made from balloons.
“Guests also enjoyed carnival games, a bouncy castle and delicious BBQ food, all made possible thanks to the support of Blenheim’s staff team and the “Friends of Blenheim” volunteers, who helped with everything from stalls to escorting residents to and from the event,” said Chris.
The event was free to attend, with donations on the day going to Carer Support Wiltshire, the home’s chosen charity of the year. The charity provides vital help for unpaid carers across the region, many of whom care for loved ones at home and benefit from respite and emotional support.
Blenheim House regularly opens its doors to the community for themed events and plans to make the Circus Extravaganza an annual feature in the calendar.
“We were inspired by The Greatest Showman and it really was the greatest day,” said Chris. “Our residents had such a fantastic time they especially loved the fire breather and it was wonderful to see families and people from the wider community enjoying the performances, games and food with us.
“There’s something very special about seeing different generations come together like this.
“We’re so proud to support Carer Support Wiltshire and can’t wait to do it all again next year.”
