A care home in Melksham hosted a Bridgerton-themed high tea event in support of Huntington’s Disease Association, raising £240 through family donations.
Blenheim House hosted over 100 residents, families and friends for the event which was held in the home’s gardens.
Guests enjoyed a selection of food prepared by the in-house catering team, including smoked salmon sandwiches, fondant fancies, macaroons, and classic scones with Dorset clotted cream and strawberry jam. In keeping with the Bridgerton theme, guests were treated to Queen Charlotte and Lady Danbury cocktails, homemade cloudy lemonade, and a selection of soft drinks.
The gathering also supported fundraising efforts for Huntington’s Disease, a genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain, affecting movement, cognitive function, and psychiatric health. One of the residents, Sarah, who is affected by this neurodegenerative disease, participated in and enjoyed the festivities. Her husband, Dermot, was also present, providing care and support throughout.
Chris Preston, Blenheim House’s events manager said, “Our Bridgerton high tea was a wonderful way to bring our community together while raising funds for a cause that’s close to our hearts. Seeing our residents and their families enjoy the day made the hard work worthwhile. We are incredibly grateful to all our staff and volunteers who participated in making the event such a success.
“The event would not have been possible without the support of the ‘Friends of Blenheim Volunteers.’ This group, consisting of family members and friends of the care home, played a crucial role in the day’s success by serving drinks, attending to tables, and assisting with the setup and clear-down duties.”
One family commented on the day, saying, “Please thank all the activities team and staff involved in the very successful Bridgerton High Tea on Saturday. Absolutely fabulous from the decor, refreshments, food, and amazing attentive staff. We all had a really fantastic time.”
