THE children of Foundry Close had the chance to say goodbye to a familiar figure, Hannah Tarring, who has been the children and families’ worker with the Melksham Anglican Team and a key figure in Melksham Messy Church.
Hannah is signed off from her role last month before taking on her new role with Salisbury Diocese.
Familiar to the children through her work in their schools, Hannah, along with John and Sharon Firth from Goodnews Church, put on a ‘Messy Christmas on the Close’, an event for the parents and children on Foundry Close and Turners Court.
Goodnews Church’s John Firth, who also lives on the Close, said, “With more than 25 children, along with their parents/carers, crafting their own figures to fill the Nativity scene (there really were a host of angels), the stable soon filled up.
“The children also decorated gingerbread men and listened as Hannah shared the Christmas story, before tucking into lots of party food and hot chocolate.
“The Messy Christmas on the Close ended with everyone singing Christmas Carols. The children all went home with bags containing Christmas ornaments to craft, a Christmas story book to colour and read, along with other treats, including a glow stick to remind them about Jesus, the “Light” that came into the world.
“We are so appreciative of the way Hannah has worked with us on this and other community events on the Close. It’s so good to be able to share God’s love with our neighbours in this way and help build the community on the Close.”
