A LOCAL care worker is trading miles for pounds, cycling to raise money and awareness for national charity, Dementia UK.
Chris Howe, who works for Brookside Care Home, is taking part in Dementia UK’s ‘Cycle 100 Miles in June’ challenge – but with a twist. Instead of limiting herself to 100 miles, Chris has pledged to cycle a mile for every pound that is donated to her fundraiser.
So far this month she has cycled 216 miles, but with her fundraising total currently standing at over £270, she still has some cycling left to do!
“I didn’t realise how kind people are donating, so I decided to carry on until the last day of June to hopefully match the pounds to miles. Everyone on the Dementia UK site are very encouraging.
“I’m loving the challenge and seeing everyone’s adventures and pictures.”
