EXCITEMENT is building ahead of the Melksham Makers’ Christmas Market!
Organisers of the market Sarah Hillman and Nicola Coleman are thrilled to have so many local artists and makers joining them for their second Christmas market.
“We’ve had an overwhelming response from local makers who would like to join us for our Christmas Makers’ Market,” said Sarah. “We’ve even got a waiting list!”
The Christmas Makers’ Market will be held in the Melksham Assembly Hall on Saturday 20th November from 10am-2pm, and will showcase a wide variety of local makers and traders.
Nicola says, “We have over 25 makers joining us for our Christmas market. It’s a great opportunity to support local business and do a little bit of Christmas shopping at the same time!
“We have many of our regular Melksham-based traders joining us, including Sandridge Brownies and Bakes, Happy Hounds Bakery, Amanda Humphrey Ceramics, Florrie & Jean, The Secret Crocheter, Katy Wilkinson Jewellery, Wiltshire Wood Art, Scents by Faith, Crafty Thyme, Floral Flames, Pure True Crafts, Southbrook Turning, BirdAndBatArt and the Melksham in Bloom Team.”
Visiting trader, and organiser of the Shop Small Swindon Market, Lisa Lowe from Ooh Lovely Lilo Ceramics says, “The Melksham Makers’ Market has such a welcoming feeling to it; as well as all the amazing customers that come and support the market, it also has a wonderful group of supportive and friendly traders – we’ve all become good friends!”
Organisers Sarah and Nicola are well supported by Melksham Town Council in the running of the market, ensuring that it meets all health and safety requirements, as well as helping to put Melksham on the map.
Linda Roberts, town clerk reports, “I remember my first meeting with Sarah and Nicola back in 2019 when they approached the town council and shared their idea to operate The Makers’ Market. Their enthusiasm and continued commitment to this unique monthly market has made it a brilliant success for Melksham and a most welcome and attractive addition to our town centre offer.
“After the past 20 months, we have become more keenly aware of the importance of community meeting space. The Makers’ Market not only assembles local creative talent and provides unique goods to the people of Melksham, it also brings people together in the heart of the town. The town council is proud to work with and support the initiative.
“I can highly recommend a visit to their Christmas Market on Saturday 20th November. You won’t be disappointed and you are bound to find some unique gifts for the special people in your life!”
The Christmas market will be the last Makers’ Market for the year but will return again in the new year.
