COFFEE mornings across Melksham have raised hundreds of pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Local groups, organisations and businesses that took part in this year’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ included; Rowley Place Community Centre, Seend Trust & Community Centre, Spencer Sports and Social Club, Melksham Cricket Club, San Marco, Henry’s Cafe, St Barnabas Church – Beanacre, Baptist Church – Old Broughton Road, Bowerhill Ladies Group, Giffords Court, and Wharf Court.
Rowley Place’s Mad Hatter’s tea party raised £513.55. They said, “We were all very pleased! The diving force behind it was our support worker Sandra Barrett. She had the idea for the Mad Hatter’s tea party – with help from Audrey, Marguerite, Chris, April, Julie, Carolyn, Liz, Linda, Sylv, and Dot who was dressed as the Mad Hatter. We hope everyone enjoyed it and we would like to thank everyone who came.”
The residents of Giffords Court raised £408.50 with their Devon cream tea afternoon. They said, “In spite of being a small community, we raised an amazing amount.”
