MELKSHAM Seniors is screening the historical comedy-drama, Pride, at the Assembly Hall for its next ‘Monday Movies’ session.
The film will be screened on Monday 23rd May. Released in 2014, Pride is based on a true story, about a group of lesbian and gay activists who raised money to help families affected by the British miners’ strike in 1984, at the outset of what would become the Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners campaign.
The film’s synopsis says, “Realising that they share common foes in Margaret Thatcher, the police and the conservative press, London-based gay and lesbian activists lend their support to striking miners in 1984 Wales.”
Doors open at 1.30pm and the film start at 2pm.
