MELKSHAM’S community has come together to provide those who may be alone for Christmas or struggling during the cost-of-living crisis, with a free Christmas Day meal, a space to be with others and support over the festive period.
Melksham Free Dining, Queensway Chapel and the Community Larder are all offering to help over Christmas. Melksham Free Dining is hosting a free Christmas Day lunch at the Assembly Hall.
Deedee Macleod from the charity said, “If you are on your own Christmas Day, Melksham Free Dining is inviting you to a free Christmas lunch on Sunday 25th December. The menu consists of turkey, (veggie option available) wine and desserts, and of course fun is also on the menu.
“Come and join us and make new friends. No-one needs to be alone on Christmas Day, because Louisa and Deedee from Melksham Free Dining are looking forward to welcoming you and to wish you a very Happy Christmas. Lifts are available.

Melksham’s community larder will be open on Monday 19th, Wednesday 21st and Friday 23rd December at 4.00pm in the Round House, Church Street, Melksham.
Adrienne Westbrook said, “During the week before Christmas, we hope to be adding Christmas treats to our usual selection of perishable goods.
“We hope to open on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day. These will be food supply dependent. The times for these will be advertised on our Facebook page if we can. We have volunteers, we just need to have the supplies.”
If local residents wish to donate fruit and vegetables for these two special sessions, they can do so by contacting the larder via their Facebook page or ringing Adrienne Westbrook on 07595 420021.
