Hundreds of trees have been planted in Melksham as part of an ambitious plan to create a new community woodland.
Volunteers from the Melksham Green Space group along with local residents planted young native saplings along Clackers Brook last month, helping to turn the land into a thriving woodland and nature trail for local people and wildlife.
It was the second community tree planting event following the first held in November.
Nigel Benham, Chair of Melksham Green Space, said, “Melksham Green Space had a very successful Sunday morning extending tree planting across Clackers Brook – Melksham’s contribution to the Great Western Community Forest.
“We would like to thank members of the local community who came with their spades and enthusiasm. The group will be busy again planting more trees in the autumn.”
