A concert given by The Philomel Singers on Saturday 2nd July at St Michael and All Angel Church in Melksham was a resounding success.
Over £500 in profits were raised for Wiltshire Air Ambulance, a charity which the female voice choir has supported on several previous occasions.
The Trowbridge based choir, who perform at three or four concerts a year to raise money for local and national charities, has raised well over £30,000 in total since its formation in 1989. The concert was a mixture of many types of song from traditional to modern and the singers were delighted to be joined by the Wiltshire Sinfonia Orchestra led by brilliant young musician, Katherine Stonham. Katherine and her equally talented younger sister, Rachel, performed solo in two Bach concertos.
Secretary Fiona Wood said, “We were so pleased to have organised this concert in aid of Wiltshire Air Ambulance for whom we have had the pleasure of performing on several previous occasions. We had a lovely full Church with a wonderfully appreciative audience! In such a beautiful setting too. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and once again raising vital funds for WAA.”
