THE Market Place was flooded with crocheters and knitters earlier this month as Melksham celebrated World Wide Knit (and crochet!) in Public Day!
The Big Yarn & Yap event, held on Saturday 11th June, was organised by local business owner Nicola Coleman (aka The Secret Crocheter) and supported by Melksham Town Council.
The event saw lots of crafty folk gather in the Market Place to do what they do best – crochet and knit, as well as raise some funds for Melksham-based charity 4Youth South West.
Nicola said, “It was amazing to see so many people come down to the Market Place to crochet and knit. We all enjoyed sitting in the sunshine, drinking tea, eating cake and crocheting!”
The Big Yarn & Yap event raised £154.87 for 4Youth, and along with these donations, people also donated crocheted and knitted squares which will be sewn together to make some blankets for the young people at 4Youth.
Big Yarn & Yap attendee Pippa said, “It was a really lovely event; I could have sat there crocheting all day!”
