Crowds turn out for Party in the Park

HUGE crowds descended on King George V park last weekend for Melksham Party in the Park and enjoyed a busy day of family fun.

The ten-hour event featured live music, inflatables, bungee trampolines, quad bikes and a Big Top Circus which was a big hit with families and a fireworks display.

On Facebook, one woman said, “A massive well done to everyone that took part in organising Party in the Park today. It is our first year living in Melksham and myself and my family had a fantastic time, so thanks for all your hard work.”

Another woman said, “We had a great time and our three year-old loved dancing to all the bands, even the AC/DC tribute band. Well done PITP team and a huge thank you.”

Party in the Park chairman Tom Sangster said, “We’re very pleased with how the event went. The circus was very popular and well attended – one performance was completely full and the others had only a few seats empty. We like to do something different every year and this was great for the whole family.

“The music acts were brilliant and put on a great show. The local bands were very professional and we appreciate their support as they don’t get paid to perform at Party in the Park. But they also enjoy the experience of performing to a big crowd and it boosts their profile.

“The two tribute acts were both excellent and the crowd loved them. I was very impressed with the Bowie tribute act; they haven’t been together that long, but they were fantastic and really put on a show.

“I was also very impressed with the stage set up, the lighting and the sound quality.

“I don’t know exactly how many people came yet, but I know that we sold over 600 tickets before the day and we had lots of people buy on the gate.

“I would like to thank all the volunteers who helped make the event a success; those who helped before, on the day and came to the clean up on Sunday morning – we couldn’t do it without you all. Also to the sponsors and those who advertised in our programme who play an important role in the event. Finally to the public, we are so grateful for your support and we hope you had a great time.

“We try to make each year a bit different so now we will put our heads together to see what ideas we can come up with for next year!”
