CURVES in Avonside, Melksham, is celebrating a successful month of fundraising, raising £2,863 to help fight breast cancer.
As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Curves, the fitness centre just for women, organised a month packed full of events. Staff and members took part in coffee mornings, raffles, a skittles night, a bring and buy sale and much, much more. “It has been a brilliant month and there has been a fantastic atmosphere with everything that has been going on,” said manager Sue Armstrong.
“I am over the moon with the final amount, which smashes the amount we raised last year by over £1,000! Everybody knows someone who has been affected by breast cancer, so this is a charity that is close to a lot of people.
“One of the highlights for me was the sponsored walk that the staff and I took part in. We walked 10.7 miles in three and a half hours.
“All our members have been very generous and I want to say a huge thank you to every one of them. Also a big thank you to the staff for all their hard work and help with the events. They are a fantastic team.”
Located at Avonside Enterprise Park, all women are welcome to come along and meet the team and try out some of the easy-to-use gym equipment. Please ring 01225 793278 to make an appointment.
Opening times: Mon-Sat 9am-12pm; Mon & Wed 2pm-7:30pm; Tues & Thurs 4pm-7:30pm; Fri 2pm-7pm.
