The weekend of 26th and 27th July saw the eighth and ninth rounds of the N G Road Race championships held at Donington Park in hot and sunny weather.
Broughton Gifford’s Darrell Higgins competed in the ACU 250cc GP National championship races on his Dennis Trollope backed T Z 250cc Yamaha.
Despite starting from the fourth row of the grid and finishing his first 10 lap race in 14th place he was back in the thick of the action in his second race. Higgins again started from the fourth row of the grid in 11th place but held seventh place for the first five laps out of 14. At the halfway stage of the race Higgins was in a great three way dice with Adam Hoare 250cc Honda and Gary Vines 250cc Yamaha.
In the closing stages Hoare got the better of Higgins for the dice for sixth place with Higgins in seventh, Higgins is currently in fifth place in the ACU 250GP National Championship. Melksham’s Russell Hynes notched up sixth and seventh in his two Metzeler DTR 700cc Streetstock races on his 675cc Triumph and is seventh in the championship standings.
