A group of friends who have set up an organisation called Leash of Life, are holding a fundraiser to help support their continued work rescuing Romanian and Spanish street dogs.
The group was inspired to help the dogs in Romania after hearing about 800 dogs being inhumanely killed in a shelter in 2014. Many of the dogs in the shelters are traumatised, either by the treatment of the dogcatchers or by the employees of the shelter.
The group bring the dogs from Romania and place them in foster homes, before finding them a permanent home.
Over 1,000 dogs have been rescued in this way.
The fundraiser will have lots to see and do, with a dog show as the main highlight of the day. There will also be a barbecue, tea and cake tent, stalls, a raffle and much more.
The event will be on Saturday 30th June from 12.00 to 4.00pm at Antonia House, 419A Semington Road, Melksham SN12 6DU. Entry 50p, accompanied children free.
