A popular Easter egg hunt is returning to Shurnhold Fields to raise funds for the volunteer group that maintains the area.
The event will run from 29th March to 12th April, with lots of Easter egg prizes to be won.
Entry is free, but the Friends of Shurnhold Fields, who look after the area, welcome donations to help fund further projects and maintenance.
One of the Friends, Donna Hambly, said, “The Easter Egg Hunt has become a much-loved event. It runs for just a couple of weeks, so you can bring your family along whenever it’s most convenient. It’s free to take part and a great excuse to walk the dog while the children have some fun outdoors. There are even a few prizes to be won, kindly sponsored by our local supporters. It’s wonderful to see groups exploring the fields, entry sheets in hand.”
The Friends of Shurnhold Fields is a volunteer group that relies entirely on donations and grants. Last year, they raised nearly £300 through the Easter egg hunt, which was used to purchase and plant more trees, including heritage apple and pear varieties that have expanded the small orchard area.
Donna added, “This year we hope to raise funds for further planting projects and would love to welcome new volunteers to join our team. If you’d like to get involved or find out a little more, please follow us on Facebook and send us a message.”
To take part, collect your free form from the notice board located in the field from 29th March and follow the instructions. Remember to bring a pen or pencil.
