THE fish and chip shop on Bowerhill has a new owner – and he’s proving a big hit.
“Lush fish and chips!” and “Fantastic fish and chips…Will be seeing you a lot more for our fishy Fridays,” are just two of the comments on Facebook in the last few days.
The new owner is Elliott Hinton who previously ran a popular fish and chip shop in Bath before taking the plunge to run his own take away.
“All our food is cooked to order,” said Elliott. “I think people much prefer fresh fish and chips that hasn’t been sitting in a fryer for ages, even if they have to wait a while.
“But we are finding that more and more people are ordering over the phone for collection or delivery or via Just Eat – so they can get freshly cooked food without waiting.
“We’ve been really busy and are getting busier every week as word spreads. And it’s not just people from Bowerhill; they are coming from all over town and surrounding towns. People are happy to travel for great fish & chips!
“We do all the regulars -cod, haddock, plaice, burgers, sausages, pies and chicken but keep an eye out in the coming weeks for an expanded menu; we are always happy to try new things which we think people will enjoy.
“We also offer gluten free fish and chips (and other meals) which are cooked in a separate fryer.
“And our gourmet burgers, using meat from a local butcher, have also gone down really well.”
The shop is open Monday 4.30pm – 9pm; and Tuesday to Saturday 11.30am – 2pm and 4.30pm – 9pm. It’s at 34 Dowding Way, Bowerhill, SN12 6SU (just off Halifax Road – look out for the signs).
