Melksham Mixed Ability Rugby held their first home match of the season on Saturday 1st October.
“The day saw three teams from the local area – Melksham Stags, Walcot Warriors and Bath Ladies Trojans – come together and play some great rugby,” said a spokesperson for the club. “There was a mini touch festival which was played in the full spirit of mixed ability, with lots of fun and laughter.
“The mini festival was proceeded by a game of mixed ability contact between Melksham Stags and Walcot Warriors. Again it was a great match and some of the finest mixed ability players in the west were on show. The good size crowd were treated to a feast of running rugby and solid commitment from both teams. Melksham Stags finally managed to record their first victory against the Warriors, but always in these events, rugby was the winner today.
“Melksham Mixed Ability would like to thank everyone who came along and joined in the day; hopefully we will see you all again soon.
“We also welcomed the sponsors who have helped this season and would like to thank Office Evolution, Trident Water Solutions, Clearsky IT, Boorman Heating Ltd and Clarkes Railings and Panels.
“If anyone is interested in getting involved in mixed ability rugby they can turn up on a Monday night for training which is from 6.45pm to 8pm at Melksham Rugby Club, or you can contact Richard Grieshaber on his email richardgrieshaber@hotmail.com for further information.”
