Sat 11th Feb. Southern League Div One South. Wimborne Town 1 – 1 Melksham Town
“TOWN travelled to in-form Wimborne on the back of four successive wins and with a really good belief in the squad,” reports chairman, Darren Perrin “Town started the game brilliantly and deservedly took the lead after nine minutes through Albie Hopkins, after fine work by Jay Malshanky.
The game flowed from end to end, with both sides creating good chances and at half time, the Town went in 1-0 up.
“Wimborne came out strongly in the second half and equalized in the 48th minute through a well worked goal. Town showed great resilience to withhold a sustained spell of pressure and gradually came more and more into the game. They were unlucky when Hopkins hit the bar with a fine effort and Malshanky went close with a fine drive.
“Overall, a draw was a fair result in what was a great advert for non-league football and Southern League in particular. “Town travel to hot favourites and big spending AFC Totton on Saturday, before we welcome Slimbridge to the Oakfield Stadium, sponsored by Hadley, on Saturday 25th February.
