Fond farewell to surgery receptionist after 35 years

A dedicated receptionist at Giffords Surgery has retired after more than three decades, with the surgery naming a room in recognition of her hard work.

Debbie Gaisford retired on Monday 17th August after 35 years of dedicated service to the surgery, having joined in 1991.

To celebrate Debbie’s work, the practice has named its meeting room ‘The Gaisford Room’ as a lasting recognition of her contribution.

Managing Partner Emma Fletcher said, “Debbie is our longest-serving employee, having dedicated much of her working life to caring for patients and supporting the practice. Her commitment, loyalty and wealth of experience have been greatly appreciated by everyone at the practice. Debbie has seen many changes in primary care over her 35 years but throughout she has remained a constant and familiar face to generations of patients and colleagues.”

During her time at Giffords, Debbie held the position of reception manager, where she played an important role in supporting both patients and colleagues, before later stepping down from the role.

Emma said, “We hope that naming a room after Debbie is a fitting way to remember her and the very significant part that she has played in the history of Giffords Surgery.”

The practice held a special lunch with colleagues and presented Debbie with gifts as a small token of appreciation for everything she has contributed over the years.
