THE former Unicorn Pub on Bath Road, which has been derelict for several years, is set to be sold at auction later this month.
In March 2023, the property made headlines after police discovered a cannabis factory on the premises following a report of a suspected burglary. Authorities found more than 200 cannabis plants growing inside the building.
The Grade II listed building, which previously housed the Unicorn Restaurant, has remained vacant since the business relocated.
The auction listing describes the property as a “former public house and restaurant in need of complete renovation,” with potential for conversion into two semi-detached houses, subject to planning consent. In 2018, a positive pre-application was submitted regarding the possibility of converting the property for residential use.
The property, which spans approximately 300m² (3,230ft²) over three floors, currently includes a pub and restaurant on the ground floor, with living accommodation on the upper levels.
The auction was set to take place on 5th December. The guide price is listed as £185,000 plus.
