The Melksham Gardeners’ Society held their AGM on March 27th at the Rachel Fowler Centre with the committee standing down – unfortunately, chairperson Barbara Cropp was unable to attend as she was taken ill, but thankfully she is now recuperating – so Bryan Colby (admin sec) ably stepped into the breach and chaired the meeting.
The MGS voted to re-elect the committee and announcements pertaining to past and future events and the state of club finances were given.
We proceeded with a talk and demonstration on hardy perennials by Don Everitt . Don gave a very interesting talk along with a slideshow and he and his wife held a plant sale during the break. Don’s talk was witty and he kept his audience laughing with his little asides – so thanks Don! And a very big Thank You to all the members who have supported the club each month, along with all the guest speakers who have come to talk or demonstrate on their areas of expertise.
Talk on herbs
The next meeting will be on Tuesday 24th April at the Rachel Fowler Centre at 7.30pm with a talk by Caroline Pakenham on the ‘Cultivation & Use of Unusual Herbs’.
