JUNIOR parkrun members took part in a spooky run last month, taking on the two-kilometre route in Halloween-themed fancy dress.
Melksham junior parkrun takes place every Sunday morning in King George V Playing Field at 9am and consists of four laps around the park.
“On Sunday 29th October 23 children taking part were invited to come in fancy dress to celebrate Halloween,” says volunteer, Sue Mortimer. “70 children took part and many turned up in their Halloween costumes along with the adult volunteers.”
Junior parkrun is a free, weekly, timed two-kilometre events for children aged between four and 14 years old. “Everyone can join in,” says Sue. “There are more than 200 junior parkrun events in England and Wales.
“Anyone can just turn up and participate whenever they feel like it but if you register your child with parkrun then they can get an official time and finish position. You only need to register them once, not every time. If anyone new would like to give Melksham junior parkrun a go, come along on Sunday morning around 8:45am for first timers briefing. You will be made most welcome.”
