GARY Higdon’s 40 goals for Melksham Town has won him the Western League’s Golden Boot award as the highest goalscorer.
Gary also broke his own all-time goalscoring record for Town for most goals in a season.
“It was great to reach the 40-goal mark,” Gary told Melksham News. “And it was fantastic to break the club’s goalscoring record, beating my own 38 goals from three or four years ago.
“It’s been a fantastic season for Town and we’re really looking forward to making the step up to the Southern League for the first time.
“The team is looking forward to the new season and I think we’re good enough to do OK.
“It was always my ambition to get to the Southern League with Town; I’ve had offers over my career to step up and play at a higher level, but I always wanted to win promotion with Melksham.”
