HUNDREDS of people lined the streets of Melksham on Monday as they queued to get their hands on tickets to see top comedian Lee Evans.
Some early birds were in the queue at 6.00am, ready for the doors to open at 9.00am and at one stage, the queue stretched from the Assembly Hall past Lloyds bank. It took little more than an hour to sell out the 400 tickets.
The world-famous comedian is to perform in a one-off show at Melksham Assembly Hall in April ahead of a UK-wide arena tour and people in Melksham snapped up the tickets within hours of them going on sale.
The comic is getting set to hit the road for his new Monsters show in August, which will see him tour the UK and Ireland in a massive arena tour including six straight dates at London’s O2 arena. And as he prepares to get under way, Lee is bringing a preview show called; Work In Progress; to Melksham’s Assembly Hall on Wednesday 9th April. As a stand-up comic, Lee is one of the very biggest names in British comedy with his latest Roadrunner tour grossing £12.9million in ticket sales.
Melksham Assembly Hall operations manager Lorna Howard said, “We’re thrilled to be able to welcome Lee to Melksham. This is a fabulous opportunity to see one of the UK’s biggest comedy names here in our town and it illustrates, once again, that we have a venue and audience with a growing reputation for hosting top class comedy.”
