A LOCAL girl has donated 13 inches of her hair to charity and raised over £400.
Six-year-old Emme Ferguson, who attends Aloeric Primary School, has donated her hair and the money to the Little Princess Trust. The charity provides real hair wigs to children that have lost their own hair due to cancer treatment or other illnesses.
“Emme said that she wanted to do it to help other children,” explained Emme’s mum Lucy Bryant.
“She got the idea from her friend who did the same thing, but also our family has been affected by cancer, so it’s a cause that is close to our hearts. I’m really proud of her.
“She’s had her hair trimmed before, but this is the first proper haircut that she has had. She has already asked if she can grow it back and do it all over again!”
Emme bravely faced the hairdresser’s scissors at Libra Hair Studio on Bath Road. “I’m very excited,” said Emme about her new hairstyle afterwards.
Emme’s fundraising target of £100 was soon broken and the total raised is currently over £400 and rising. To sponsor Emme, visit: www.justgiving .com/ fundraising/lucy-bryant4
